Hello Everyone. Today’s article is a guest post from Lloyds Pharmacy

If you suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED), you’ll know how frustrating the condition can be. It’s even harder to cope with if you don’t feel comfortable talking about the issue with your family and friends. Luckily though, there are now a number of effective treatments on offer and you don’t even have to make a trip to your GP to get hold of them.
Instead, you can use the web and visit LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor, where you will asked to complete a questionnaire. A doctor will assess your responses and prescribe if appropriate. If you do get a prescription, you can choose whether to collect your medicine from your local LloydsPharmacy or receive a home delivery. This takes any potential embarrassment or inconvenience out of the process.
When you’re deliberating over the following treatments, be aware that whilst they can provide firmer and longer lasting erections, they don’t have an impact on your sexual desire. Also, you should always check the possible side effects before deciding which medicines to use.
Viagra
By far the most well known of the ED treatments on offer is Viagra (which is a brand name for the drug sildenafil). Best taken one hour before sex, it works by increasing blood flow into the erectile tissue of the penis. The drug can remain effective for between four and six hours.
It’s important to note that you should never take more than one tablet within a 24-hour period and if you take Viagra with alcohol, its effectiveness may decrease.
Cialis
Another popular ED treatment is Cialis (tadalafil). Like Viagra, you can buy Cialis online. The drug should be taken 30 minutes before sex and its effects can last for up to 36 hours.
You should never take more than one of these tablets within a 24-hour period and note that, as with Viagra, more than one or two units of alcohol can limit its effectiveness. In addition, doctors will not prescribe this drug if you’re taking nicorandil or nitrates to treat angina or alpha blocker medicines which are used in the treatment of blood pressure or prostate conditions.
Levitra
Levitra (vardenafil) is also available to help combat ED. Best taken at least an hour before sex, its positive effects can last for up to 12 hours. There is evidence that this medicine may be more suitable for diabetics.
As with Cialis, Levitra is not recommended if you’re taking nicorandil or nitrates to treat angina. Also, if you’re taking alpha blockers you should leave at least six hours between consuming your alpha-blocker and using Levitra.
Spedra
The new kid on the block when it comes to ED medicines is Spedra (avanafil). This fast-acting drug gets to work within 15 minutes for some men, but you should take it around 30 minutes before you have sex. Also, bear in mind that it can take longer for the effects to kick in if the medicine is taken with food or alcohol. The positive effects can last for up to four hours.
Spedra shouldn’t be taken more than once a day and you should avoid grapefruit juice for 24 hours before consuming the medicine.
This treatment is not suitable if you’re taking nicorandil or nitrates for angina and, if you’re taking alpha-blockers, you should leave a gap of at least six hours before taking Spedra.
What If It Doesn’t Work?
If you start taking Viagra, Cialis, Levitra or Spedra and find that it doesn’t work for you, you can seek medical advice on upping your dosage. Alternatively, you might want to try another medicine.
There is also the option of vacuum pumps. To operate these items, you place a specially designed plastic tube over your penis, pushing it against your groin so that no air can get in. The other end of the tube is joined to a pump, which removes the air and causes an erection. Once erect, a plastic band is placed around the base of the penis.
Whichever method of ED treatment you select, it’s important that you feel comfortable and confident using it.
