The turn of a new year always welcomes with it a whole host of people promising to do better and many of us use it as an opportunity to improve our health and fitness. However, achieving this goal isn’t always as easy as we convince ourselves that it will be, inevitably leading to many broken self-made promises. As we ring in the 1st of January with the chiming of Big Ben, we feel motivated to achieve our goals. By the end of January many will feel their motivation waning and come mid-February, gym visits have shrunk from four or five days a week to once every fortnight.
There are a few things that you can do to maintain your motivation to help you to stick to a plan and many of these handy tools can be found online.
Online Roulette Wheel
Ladbrokes have designed a special roulette wheel designed to help people with their exercise routines. Have a spin of the wheel and see what type of exercise you have to do. This is a great way to ensure your fitness regime doesn’t get boring. It is important to ensure you incorporate different exercises into a routine workout and this is a simple way to do it. The more interesting the workout session is, the more motivated you will be to do so stave off the boredom by playing with this online tool.
Workout on YouTube
While we all know YouTube is a great resource to use when you want to listen to your favourite songs but it is also a good channel for finding new ways to exercise. You can watch keep fit videos and workout with your friends. Instead of doing the same fitness DVD over and over, you can play a new video each day. From warming up and doing dance routines through to stretching and learning exercises search for whatever you need on YouTube to shake up your regular routine.
Download a Gym Workout Plan
You can use the internet to download useful workout plans that can include anything from building muscle mass to losing weight. Find a website that allows you to download a plan that interests you and add it into your workout sessions to avoid having to spend four days a week working up a sweat in a gym looking at the same four walls.
Online Trainers
There are websites that allow you to follow guidance from a trainer online rather than using one in person. The key to successful workout regimes is to mix it up to stave off the boredom, so try spending one day a week in the gym and use the other days to download a workout plan or dance the night away to a YouTube video. These training programmes will outline everything from the exercises that you need to do through to the length of time you need to be doing them and you can find a training programme that specifically matches your requirements.
Exergaming
Want to exercise more but love video games too much? Then this is the perfect way to combine the two! Consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, specialist websites and mobile phone apps all offer a wide variety of fun games to play that require you to get up and move about and you can play all kinds of sports from bowling to boxing – all from the comfort of your living room.
Don’t just stick to the same old workouts and exercises in the same place, as this is a sure fire way to get bored and lose interest. Maintain your motivation by adding something new to your regime each week and the internet is an endless resource when it comes to finding new ways to workout, whether you want to stretch it out with some outdoor yoga on your smartphone or dance for an hour in your living room to a YouTube workout video.
