Over training is a common mistake amongst people who want to improve their health and fitness. They believe that training hard is what results in success and taking time off from training has the opposite effect. However, training is a two step process and making time for rest and recovery is just as important as making time to train.
To avoid over training, make sure you give each body part a minimum of three days rest between sessions. For example, if you train your chest on a Monday, make sure you don’t train it again till Thursday at the earliest. In addition to this, make sure you take at least one full day off from training each week and use this day to give your body a rest. Finally, make sure you have a rest week every six weeks where you lighten your training load or take a complete break from exercise.
